The Papers revealed that the U.S. had deliberately expanded its war with bombing of Cambodia and Laos, coastal raids on North Vietnam, and Marine Corps attacks, none of which had been reported by media in the US. The most damaging revelations in the papers revealed that four administrations, from Truman to Johnson, had misled the public regarding their intentions. For example, the John F. Kennedy administration had planned to overthrow South Vietnamese leader Ngo Dinh Diem before his death in a November 1963 coup. President Johnson had decided to expand the war while promising "we seek no wider war" during his 1964 presidential campaign, including plans to bomb North Vietnam well before the 1964 Election.
Deep throat released classified information that led to the downfall of richard nixon because of all the corruption he had done such as ordering and covering up the watergate break in and his secret slush fund.
Prior to publication, the New York Times sought legal advice. The paper's regular outside counsel, Lord Day & Lord, advised against publication, but house counsel James Goodale prevailed with his argument that the press had a First Amendment right to publish information significant to the people's understanding of their government's policy.
President Nixon's first reaction to the publication was that since the study embarrassed the Johnson and Kennedy administrations, not his, he should do nothing. However, Kissinger convinced the president that not opposing publication set a negative precedent for future secrets. The administration argued Ellsberg and Russo were guilty of a felony under the Espionage Act of 1917, because they had no authority to publish classified documents. After failing to persuade the Times to voluntarily cease publication on June 14, Attorney General John N. Mitchell and Nixon obtained a federal court injunction forcing the Times to cease publication after three articles.
On June 30, 1971, the Supreme Court decided, 6–3, that the government failed to meet the heavy burden of proof required for prior restraint injunction. The nine justices wrote nine opinions disagreeing on significant, substantive matters.
Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell.
—Justice Black | Yes, I have been wondering if I just dreamed up the Bill of Rights one night lately in my sleep. You know, people have been talking about 1984 a lot more lately then in the past ten years or so...or it seems that way to me...and it is rather disturbing how much there seems to be a push to control all information to all citizens of every nation on the planet...including (and harder for me to bear simply because communication and information allowed for such a thing as the Bill of Rights to begin with) the USA. It doesn't seem to be on the agenda to make any rash moves, but there does seem to be what I'm calling, a "training of the minds" going on. When I hear people saying that we shouldn't know what our government is doing, we should just trust them...it literally makes my blood run cold.
I haven't fought in any wars, but I do have great respect and love for those that have fought in wars to sustain the United States and what it stands for. Sometimes there are real threats, and we do need a government, and even a government that has some security secrets, but when we can't tell why we are going to war anymore, or where our tax dollars are going, or why our guys have to sacrifice their lives when they aren't free to be a real patriot anymore at home...well...how do you just trust that their secrets are in your best interest? I certainly can't.
We need to put a stop to revolving door conflicts of interest and start with the Defense Dept.. It's just pure insanity to believe that private and public can mingle their interests so intimately with the most massive amount of tax revenue ever filtered through a single body of government any where on earth at any time in history and not expect men to act as men will, judge their own interests generously. The cost is lives and ultimately...according to how this "training of the minds" goes....our guyren's freedom to know what we may not want to see. | Is political correctness to blame for lack of coverage over horrific black-on-white killings in America's Deep? 21-year-old University of Tennessee student Channon Christian was beaten in the head and a household bleach was poured down her throat and over her bleeding and battered genital area in an attempt by her attackers to cover any evidence of rape – all while she was still alive.
Then she was ‘hog-tied’ with curtains and a strip of bedding and a plastic bag was wrapped over her face.
Her body was stashed inside five bigger rubbish liners and dumped in a bin, where, according to the autopsy report, she slowly suffocated to death.
Even though the killings happened in January, 2007, they have attracted very little national and international coverage.
That’s because they do not fit into the conventional contours of an attack in America’s Deep South, where a shameful history of racial intolerance has meant assaults by whites on blacks have historically been regarded in the context of race.
In this case, the races were reversed: the victims were white and the four men and one woman charged in connection with the murders are black.

Why are these kind of killings being withheld from Americans? | | PC is often harmful as it is blatant censorship! There is no doubt that is why the story went uncovered! | Culturally speaking, what do you think of bIack men + indian boy relationships? I am a 19 year old indian boy. I am a little on the chubby side but black men like a big ol' donk they can pound from behind don't they? All the black men I've been with have never complained. They love it when I swallow and gag when I deep throat them. They love it even more when I "clean up" after. What do you think? Is this weird because I am Indian and they are black? | | I don't think it's my opinion here that counts (though can I just say hot?!)? What matters is what you think. | Can a dose of amitriptyline get stuck in the esophagus and cause it to burn? My father in law, who is 78 years old, recently expressed discomfort saying it felt like his dose of Amitriptyline was stuck deep in his throat. The next day, he lost his voice, and his throat was very sore (burning sensation). He also started spitting up and coughing up black stuff.
My mother in law took him to GI doctor (they didn't tell the doctor about the pill, just the black stuff) who scheduled a procedure to look at his throat, esophagus and stomach.
When complete, the doctor said that there was no sign of cancer and saw a healing ulcer in his stomach.
Now, my mother in law is wondering if maybe the black stuff was old dried blood from a burn in my father in law's esophagus.
Just wondering -- sounds far fetched to me. | | I have never heard of that happening, Amitrip. gets dispensed like candy in most states and I have never heard of this happening to anyone for the 4+ year I worked as a pharmacy tech. Amytrip. is usually a very small orange or white pill or a small gelatin capsule, and with peristalsis happening in the esophagus, I would think things as small as a pill would not get stuck in an adult male esophagus. Ulcers however do cause burning sensations and bleeding sometimes too. | Coughed up black mucus with a tiny bit of blood. why? why?
OK, i haven't smoked cigarettes for over a week now. i also haven't been coughing at all, it was kind of like a deep throat clear and the mucus shot out. The mucus was brown blackish, with just a little bit of blood. Is this at all normal after quitting smoking. i know your supposed to cough up all the tar and toxins, but blood, i dont know about that. Should i worry?
let me add, I've never coughed up blood in my entire life. and been do the doctors a lot. I'm 23 yrs old and have smoked cigarettes for 8 years. i smoked about half a pack or less a day. | | The cilia in your throat will naturally bring up the tar from your lungs. The nasty stuff ur spitting up is the nasty stuff in your lungs. Blood is not completely abnormal but I wouldn't chance it. GO TO THE DOCTORS. Go to the doctor for a check up without delay, Take k.
Edit: That is good news, surely you can make it. | This is the beginnig of my story. is it good? any ideas for what happens next? I stared out the fogged up window at the pouring rain while twisting a lock of my straight dyed black hair around one long thin finger. I glanced over at the old, scraggly man sleeping to my right as an especially loud snore came from deep in his throat. I reached down and grabbed my slick, black video Ipod out of the faded olive green case I kept it in. The bus jolted as it came up to my stop. I got up out of my blue plastic seat, pushed the door open, and a surge of cold sharp raindrops blew into my face. I jumped off the last black and yellow step and landed on the wet gray concrete. I walked the regular 5 blocks to my big empty house while listening to “This Could Be Love” by The Alkaline Trio on my Ipod. I flipped up the hood on my black, oversize sweatshirt as the rain started to get heavier. | | ....I then went inside and turned on my computer. I checked my yahoo answers and then told all my critics to go to hell. | How would you rate this look? flic.kr/p/9TmfoG

Making any huge changes that can lead to bad consequences, such as crash dieting, eating disorders and gaining weight.
Without taking up too much time.
I have a very healthy diet. I never drink anything but water, milk and green tea. I eat lots of fruit every day, and I make vegetables when I have the time (once of twice a week... I want more but I have no time). I barely ever eat meat except for fish. I eat black bread and wholegrain, never anything else. I havent eaten fast food in years. Closest thing is sushi. My only downfall is chocolate, and my avergae consumption per week is like... 1 row of Cadbury if I even get chocolate. (\) (I eat lots to spoil myself very rarely.).
